Byron Bay Tea Company (BBTC) is an Australian based tea brand. Each batch is hand-blended by the owner using her knowledge as a naturopath and herbalist. She uses the highest quality ingredients from traditional tea-growing countries around the world, which are responsibly and sustainably sourced. BBTC has been successfully supplying restaurants, cafes, resorts, retreats, and food stores around Australia for fourteen years.

THE PROBLEM

Byron Bay Tea Company (BBTC) has been a leader in the Australian tea industry for fourteen years. Over time, tea consumption has grown whilst competition from cheaper supermarket brands has increased resulting in flat sales growth.

THE BRIEF

Develop a new brand language and packaging suite that reflects BBTC’s premium quality, hand-blended products, and appeal to an increasingly sophisticated and design savvy tea market.

Brand Pattern

The brand uses a monochromatic, abstract dot pattern, based on a photograph of the Byron Bay shoreline. We created this particular style of pattern as a modern interpretation of the dot style Aboriginal art is best known for, acknowledging the indigenous cultures of the land. By using this style, the brand elements and packaging takes on a uniquely Australian feel.
